Solar Shading Working The Energy System

The idea of being able to enjoy unlimited sun and warmth via our completely open and glazed home is not quite the available dream.  There are in fact restrictions on how much glazing can be used in building – caused by Part L of the current UK buildng regulations.  However to offset these restrictions, solar shading has been developed to optimise the amount of solar heat gain and the visible light admitted into the building.   The idea is to impact the energy use of a building whilst improving the thermal and visual comfort of any occupants.  On very hot and sunny days it iprotects against the glare and resulting overheating for the users.   Exterior solar shading systems are designed to offer an effective method of reducing solar heat gain and glare at the same time as adding a distrinctive architectural element to a sometimes austere building.    A case of beautifying and nergy saving in one.
